Privacy Policy

Pomodoro Timer ("we", "us", the "site") is a free online Pomodoro timer. Short version: you can use the whole timer without an account, and if you don't sign in, every calculation runs locally in your browser and nothing you type reaches us. If you do sign in, we store your completed sessions and tasks so they sync across your devices — that part is described under Google sign-in below.

What we collect

If you are not signed in, the values you enter into the tool are processed by JavaScript in your browser to produce a result. They are not sent to or stored on any server we control; your history lives only in that browser's local storage.

We do collect aggregate, anonymous usage data through analytics and, once approved, advertising cookies — both described below.

Analytics (Google Analytics 4)

We use Google Analytics 4 to understand in aggregate how many people visit, which pages are popular, and roughly where visitors come from. Google Analytics uses cookies and similar identifiers; the data is aggregated and not used by us to identify you personally. See Google's Privacy Policy and the GA Opt-out Add-on.

Advertising & cookies (Google AdSense)

We may display ads served by Google AdSense. Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits. You can opt out of personalised advertising at Google Ads Settings or aboutads.info.

Reader support (Bondin)

Pages carry an optional “Buy me a chai” button provided by Bondin. The button itself sends nothing. If you click it, Bondin opens a payment window loaded from bondin.io, and anything you enter there — including payment details — is handled by Bondin under their privacy policy, not ours. We never see or store your payment information. If you do not click it, no Bondin cookie is set.

Google sign-in

The web timer never requires you to sign in. Signing in is needed to download the desktop app and to sync your history between the app and the web timer. Sign-in uses your Google account; we never receive or store your Google password.

Once you are signed in, we store: your email address and Google account ID; your completed focus sessions (the duration, the timestamp, and the task name you typed); your task list; your synced preferences; an optional display name; and a randomly generated public nickname used on the leaderboard.

Public leaderboard

Signed-in users who complete focus sessions appear on our public leaderboard. This is on by default and you can switch it off at any time.

What is published: a randomly generated nickname (for example "Quiet Otter"), your total effective focus minutes for the period, your number of completed sessions, and your rank. The nickname is generated at random and is not derived from your email address or any other detail about you.

What is never published: your email address, your Google account ID, the task names you type, or your display name. Your display name is only ever shown publicly if you explicitly turn on "Show my name instead of my nickname" in Preferences.

To remove yourself: open Preferences → Account and turn off Show me on the leaderboard. You are removed from the public board within a minute. Your own history and statistics are unaffected.

A published nickname is still information about a real person, so we treat it as personal data: it is covered by the access and deletion rights described below, and we do not sell it or share it with advertisers.

To keep you signed in we set one strictly necessary session cookie (__Host-session). It holds a random session token, not your personal details, and is not used for analytics or advertising, so it is not covered by the consent choice below.

Want your account and email deleted? Email gazalafarheen023@gmail.com and we will remove your record.

Visitors in the EU, UK and Switzerland

If you are in the EEA, UK, or Switzerland, non-essential cookies (analytics and advertising) are turned off by default. They load only if you agree through the consent prompt shown by our advertising partner's Google-certified consent tool. Until you agree, we serve no personalised advertising and set no analytics cookies. Outside these regions, the analytics and advertising cookies described above are used; you can opt out using the links in those sections. You can change your choice at any time by clearing this site's cookies in your browser.

Children

This site is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes

When we update this policy, we will revise the "Last updated" date above.
